My wife and I have an ever growing list of names we will never use. It should help you narrow things down. But I won't suggest the names we like because that would be uncool if our kids had the same name. Here's the losers:
Chet, Tyrone, Cecil, Esteban, Herb, Arsenio, Goliath, Elliot, Clint, Habakuk, Chutney, Kansas, Jethro, Lucifer, Gargamel, Azrael, Grendel, Adolf, Pol Pot, Mao, Carrot Top, Philbert, Godzilla, Fabio, Yanni, Ramses, Quest, Gardello, Nosmo, Goober, Krystal, Brittney, Crackhead, Brodeo, Arena Rider, Justa Cowgirl (those last three are actual names of children in Santaquin), and Martin Sheen.

I suggest you wait until you kid is about 2. You know, old enough to name himself. I'm guessing he'll probably pick something like Elmo or Barney. Personally, I think Barney Penrod is catchy.

I'd consider Johns suggestion of Tobias. he is an actual relative of yours who went AWOL at the battle of (Long island?) with washington. Next to Snavely (one of your Menonite relatives) he is one of my favorites.
