East Denver Eruv

An eruv (click on "law") is a string or wire surrounding a jewish community. It can aslo consist of natural boundries like roads and rivers. An eruv symbolically extends the boundries of the home allowing the occupants to carry objects and leave their houses without breaking the sabath. I live well within the boundries of The East Denver Eruv, so does that mean I live in a Jewish household? Are you living in an eruv?

I'm not sure what the photographer was going for here, Grant flying through the sky on a teddy bear? Anyway, it's still cute.

Rilo Kiley at Kilby Court

M. Ward opened for Rilo Kiley. We actually had a baby sitter, so it was the first show Adrienne and I both went to in a long time.

I came to see Rilo Kiley but ended up transfixed by M. ward. A smallish 20-something with a baseball cap pulled low, he played the guitar like he had sold his soul, and he sang like he was channeling a chain-smoking Louis Armstrong. He is a one-man musical time-machine. I bought his album, Transfiguration of Vincent, and have just been looping it over and over and over.

It wasn’t that long ago that I saw Rilo Kiley at Kilby and there were only about 20 of us there, and it was probably the best show I have ever been to. This time the place was packed and the set list wasn’t exactly what I would have chosen, but it was still a great show. I have to say though, the couple of songs they played with M. Ward were actually some of my favorites of the night.

The only real negative to the show—I managed to stand directly in front of a speaker hanging from the ceiling. Being 6’6“, the sound actually went directly through my head, was amplified by my skull, and then went out to the rest of the crowd.

OK, we are finally moved

OK, we are finally moved in and have some internet access. I would post some photos, but I can't find the usb to upload them. Anyway.....
Today on the way home from work in rush hour traffic I recognized the driver next to me as the man that had let me change lanes on the way home the day before. The strange thing was that it wasn't the same time of day. So, it makes it less likely that he just has the same schedule and route home. Though, even then what would the odds be that I would run into him in such a huge mass of cars?
The same thing happened with Sinbad (you know, tall, black comedian, mc hammer style pants). He came into my work in California, then a few years later I walked passed him in the Tokyo airport. I wonder how many people we see over and over in far flung places but we just don't know or recognize them.
