I was really sad when I heard this. I've been to literally hundreds of concerts and I have always said that the best live voice I have ever heard was Elliott Smith. I remember listening to his albums with my wife and discussing how it wasn't possible for somebody to be that depressed. Apparently it is. Rest in peace.

Adrienne and I had a chance to go see him play last month and we didn't go. We definitely regret that.

The first time I heard Miss Misery it was like an out of body experience. HOw could anyone in their right mind do this? It's insane. So much of what's out there is doable and thinkable, Elliott Smith's is genius. His tragedy is so sad, but it seems to fit in with his thing. He left us with his music.

Last year, the Daily Herald ran story about a family coping with the loss of a member after he was struck by lightening. The headline ran was "Family Shocked By Death of Father." I think this ranks right up there with that.
