Olympia summer seems to be finding its pace. It really got off to a pathetic start. More than 6 days of rain and 50 degree weather in July is not acceptable (unless you’re in the Southern Hemisphere I guess). This week has been in the 80’s and clear and people are starting to hand out free produce! Yesterday our neighbors invited us over to pick as many italian plums as we could carry. I don’t know if they realized how much I can carry. They must not see me when I unload the car after we go grocery shopping. I can often get 9 bags into the house by myself without dropping much of anything (Josh, do you do this too? Do you yell ‘I win’ at your wife when she sets down her two bags and you come crashing into the kitchen swinging 9? thought so). Does anyone have any plum recipes? Because seriously, we have a lot of plums.
Yesterday I came upstairs and found Grant sitting in front of the computer with his toy piano in his lap and a pair of unplugged earphones on. There was a strange clicking noise and I realized that he was recording a track in GarageBand. He had somehow figured out how to start recording and was adding some crazy piano to a guitar track I had recorded earlier. He must have seen me do it so many times that he decided it was easy enough. I played it back and was treated to manic piano playing and a song about summer. “He hopes that summer never ends, and he hopes that summer never ends! It’s summer time! It’s summer time!” It slowly turned into a song about Charlie and the chocolate factory and how Mike TV was going to be Ok because they would just stretch him back to size., then about 3 minutes of him blowing up a balloon, a minute of silence and then him talking to his stuffed bear about how he was excited for me to hear his song. I’ll try to post a clip on his site.
